These are the terms for using https://sbruns.com — the newsletter, the email archive, and commenting on it. By subscribing, reading an email page, or posting a comment, you're agreeing to them. If anything here doesn't work for you, the simplest option is not to use the site; for anything else, email sam@sbruns.com.

What this is

This is Sam Bruns's personal site: an occasional newsletter, an archive of past emails, and a comment section on each one. It's free to use, isn't a business, and isn't offered as a professional or commercial service.

The newsletter

Subscribing is free and voluntary. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email, effective immediately. There's no schedule this site commits to keeping — emails go out when there's something worth sending, not on a guaranteed cadence.

Signing in and commenting

Commenting requires signing in with a Google account, as described in the Privacy Policy. You're responsible for what you post. In particular, don't post anything that:

• is spam, an advertisement, or unrelated to the email you're commenting on
• is illegal, harassing, hateful, or threatening
• impersonates someone else or misrepresents your affiliation with anyone
• infringes someone else's copyright, trademark, or other rights
• contains malware, phishing links, or anything intended to compromise a reader's device or account

Comments are moderated. Any comment can be hidden or removed, and any account can be blocked from commenting again, at any time and without notice, at the site owner's discretion — most often for one of the reasons above, but not limited to them.

By posting a comment, you're giving this site permission to display it on the relevant email's page for as long as that page exists. You still own what you wrote; this doesn't transfer any rights beyond showing it here. You can ask to have a comment removed at any time by emailing sam@sbruns.com.

The content itself

The newsletter's text and photos belong to Sam Bruns unless a piece explicitly says otherwise. You're welcome to link to a page on this site or quote a short excerpt with credit. Republishing an email or a photo from it in full needs permission first — ask, it's usually fine.

No warranty

This site is provided as-is, run by one person in their spare time. It comes with no guarantee that it will be available at any particular time, free of errors or broken links, or accurate on every detail. Nothing on it is professional advice of any kind — it's personal writing, offered as such.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows it, Sam Bruns isn't liable for any damages arising from your use of this site — including from it being unavailable, from a link in an email leading somewhere unexpected, or from anything posted by another reader in the comments.

Changes

These terms may be updated occasionally — the date at the top of this page will always reflect the latest version. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the update.

Ending access

You can stop using this site at any time — unsubscribe from the newsletter, or simply stop visiting. The site owner can also stop offering any part of this service, or block a specific account from commenting, at any time.
